Joys of the Season – December Challenge / Post 1 – Generosity

Hello There!

It’s that lovely time of year when we make lists, check them twice, and buy gifts for those who are a bit naughty and others really nice. Why? Because the commercials tell us to! Hahaha.. Funny yet true! I am sure many of us do genuinely love to surprise our families & friends with a well chosen gift and seeing the delight on their faces. Actually, giving without any desire to receive in return is pure Joy!

During the holiday season while we are able to spoil those near and dear to us, it is also important to remember the spirit of giving to those who are less fortunate. Every little bit helps! If we all contribute we can as a family and community really make a difference.

Here are some financial ways you can help:

  • Donate a portion of each paycheck to help an organization like SunYouth or Centraide.
  • When self-checking your next purchase, click to donate $1 or $2 to a local charity.
  • Help a local foodbank by buying a few extra non-perishables item.
  • Sponsor a child or family and become a real live Santa.
  • Add a few extra coins or dollarto your next tip.
  • Mysteriously surprise someone in need with a grocery store gift card.

We can also be generous without spending money:

  • Call someone and tell them how much you care for them.
  • Shovel your elderly neighbour’s walkway after a large snowfall.
  • Knit or crochet hats or mittens for the homeless.
  • Bake some goodies to share. Write a poem or create a painting as a gift.
  • Help trim a Christmas tree while singing carols.

I hope these ideas will help spark other ways to be generous during the festive season.

May the magic of the holidays make you Lit With Joy! 🔥🎄🔥

Love & Light,

Joyce
