Singing in the Rain – Enjoy it!

It’s a gray, cool, and rainy day in my area this morning. The raindrops are sliding down all the windows, I hear the pitter-patter soothing beat of the rain, and I smell the freshness in the air. I actually like rainy days! They are very cathartic, wouldn’t you agree? The raindrops on my window could be a metaphor for washing away of my outdated viewpoints. While the sound and smell could symbolize a call to action and a renewal of spirit. We can choose to see the rainbow even on the cloudy days in our lives. Rainy days can be a great time to slow down, reflect, and plan.

Some days we can get so caught up with all the Must Do’s that we forgot the Why To’s. Why are we feeling so tired, stressed, or anxious? Why are we binge watching Netflix instead of taking action our goals? Why are we not making more time for friends and family? I have found that the best way to make things happen, is to plan for it to happen.

Since I was young I have loved lists, making them, reading them for ideas, etc. I honestly have several notebooks on the go with various types of lists to refer back to when I just need an idea or inspiration. How about keeping a rainy day check list filled with reminders on how to enjoy the gray days?

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • If you are in need of rest and renewal by all means sleep
  • Read that book you bought over a year ago
  • Get the kids to help bake some cookies or cupcakes
  • Unplug and play board games or build a fun pillow tent
  • Color, draw, paint, scrapbook, knit, crochet, etc.
  • Sing, dance, try talking in different accents “I’m walkin ere”
  • Write down your goals for the week, month, year

My wish is for us remember that rainbows and sunny days are within us. So put on your rain boots, splash in puddles, and enjoy Singing in the Rain!

Rainy days can still be Lit With Joy! 🔥
